Lewis Hamilton Wins the 2020 British Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton led from grid to chequered flag at the British Grand Prix, but it was far from a straight-forward victory for the reigning world champion, despite a puncture on the last lap to clinch an 87th career win and move within four of Michael Schumacher’s Formula One record.

The six-time world champion led from lights to flag, and through two Safety Car interventions, before he suffered a front left tyre failure on his final lap, leaving him to nurse his Mercedes home with second-placed Max Verstappen in hot pursuit in his Red Bull. Charles Leclerc finished third for Ferrari.

The Dutchman had inherited second when Hamilton’s Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas, running comfortably in second for most of the contest, was hit by the same problem, his front-left delaminating and deflating on his penultimate lap.

“In the previous few laps, I began to again off after which on the final lap, it simply deflated,” stated Hamilton. 

Lewis (88 points) leads the Drivers' Championship by 30 points from Bottas (58 points)

The Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team (146 points) leads Red Bull Racing (78 points) by 68 points in the Constructors' F1 Championship.

Lewis Hamilton wins 2020 Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix

Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton took his second win of the 2020 Formula One season at the Hungarian Grand Prix on Sunday for the eighth time to equal Michael Schumacher's single-venue record and take the championship lead, while Max Verstappen took second despite dramatically crashing on his way to the grid in wet conditions. 

Valtteri Bottas failed in an attempt to pass Red Bull's Max Verstappen for second, giving Hamilton a five-point championship lead over his team after three races.

With rain having fallen earlier in the day and pockets of standing water still on the circuit, most of the drivers selected to start the race on intermediate tyres, Hamilton even had time to stop for fresh tyres with three laps to go to grab the extra point for fastest lap in the beautiful Hungary.

The British driver's 86th GP win moved him just five behind the German great Schumacher's F1 record of 91.

Lewis Hamilton won the 2020 Styrian Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton won the Styrian Grand Prix from pole position on Sunday in Spielberg, Austria, to clinch an 85th career win and move within six of Michael Schumacher's Formula 1 record.

The six-time world champion Hamilton's record-extending 89th career pole on a rain-drenched track was one of his best in extreme conditions, but during the race he was hardly challenged as he finished a sizeable 13.7 seconds ahead of Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas and 33.7 ahead of Red Bull's Max Verstappen, in partly cloudy conditions a day after heavy rain in qualifying.

“The team did a fantastic job with the strategy and it was up to me to keep it together, get off the curbs and bring it home.

“I’m very grateful to be back in first place and I honestly feel like a lot of time from last year’s race. To come back this year after a tough first weekend from last week is a big step forward.” Hamilton said after the race.

 

The miserable period of Ferrari continues.

For the second time in the past four races, Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel crashed into each other and went out.

Ferrari's two drivers, Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel, met in the first round, with Leclerc appearing to crash into the four-time world champion.

Vettel’s back air damage forced him out of the race while Leclerc needed a long stay in pit lane before rebooting. He ends up forgetting, though, minutes after the fourth time.

The drivers competed on the same track – the Red Bull ring – for the second consecutive week after Formula One made changes to the calendar in the middle of the race. coronavirus pandemic. Styria is a region in Austria.

It was Bottas who won the opening – the Austrian Grand Prix the next race is next week's Hungarian Grand Prix.

Valtteri Bottas won a chaotic F1 season-opening Austrian Grand Prix on Sunday while Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton finished fourth after getting a late time penalty.

Ferrari's Charles LeClerc claimed second on the podium with Lando Norris in third. Defending world champion Lewis Hamilton finished in fourth officially.

It was a horror show for the Red Bull team on their home circuit. Max Verstappen started in second and pressured race-leader Bottas early on. However, a mechanical failure on lap 11 forced him into the pits and he retired shortly after. 

The race was interrupted three times by a safety car and nine of 20 drivers abandoned, including both Red Bulls of Max Verstappen and Alexander Albon - who tried to overtake Hamilton on the outside with 10 laps left, touched wheels and flew off track at Speilberg in the Austrian Alps which had no fans present due to the coronavirus pandemic.

"I dodged a few bullets today," Bottas said after the eighth F1 win of his career, to claim victory  he survived race-long pressure from Mercedes team mate and defending champion Lewis Hamilton, plus three Safety Car appearances and "critical" gearbox issues.

Lewis Hamilton cruises to victory he delivered sumptuous confirmation of his title-winning supremacy on Sunday when he claimed his 84th career victory and 11th in 21 races this year by dominating the 2019 season-ending ‘twilight’ Abu Dhabi Grand Prix ahead of Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc.



Starting from a record 88th pole position, the 34-year-old six-time Formula 1 Briton world champion was unchallenged from lights to flag as he cruised to an untroubled triumph 16 seconds ahead of Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc of Ferrari, who faced a post-race investigation for fuel irregularities.

The six-time world champion’s success extended his points-scoring run to a record-equalling 33 races, levelling with his own record, and brought him his 50th victory from pole position.


“I wasn’t expecting to have the pace advantage to that extent,” Hamilton said.

His fifth win at the Yas Marina circuit drew him level with Ayrton Senna in claiming a 19th start-to-finish triumph.


In the final 2019 F1 drivers’ championship table, Hamilton finished first with 413 points, followed by teammate Bottas on 326, and Verstappen in third place with 278 points.

In the constructors’ standings, Mercedes once again took top honours with 739 points, ahead of Ferrari on 504, and Red Bull with 417 points.

The 2020 Formula 1 season will feature a record-high 22 rounds, kicking off March 15 with the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne.

Max Verstappen wins the 2019 Brazilian F1 Grand Prix

Max Verstappen takes a brilliant victory after chaotic climax he won the penultimate Formula One race of the season, earning victory on Sunday at the 2019 Brazilian Grand Prix.



Verstappen was a deserved winner in a race that he controlled from the start, but Gasly was a star, Hamilton and Mercedes had an unusually difficult race, and yet again there will be a sharp focus on Vettel's driving and character, as the four-time champion continued his battle for supremacy at Ferrari with his young team-mate.

The race around the Interlagos circuit in São Paolo effectively became a 12-lap dash to the flag when Valtteri Bottas triggered the safety car after he pulled his Mercedes over with engine trouble.

With five laps to go, Leclerc seized his chance and went down the inside of his Ferrari teammate to snatch fourth place.
But Vettel fought back and, as he steered his Ferrari around Leclerc, the red cars made contact. It looked like a glancing blow, but it was enough for the Ferraris to collide with a spew of burst rubber and bodywork -- and enough to put the dueling drivers out of the race.


Hamilton took the blame for his crash with Albon.
Lewis Hamilton came third after fighting with Verstappen for victory until the final laps, but the world champion collided with Red Bull's Alexander Albon at the end and was later dropped from the podium after being given a five-second penalty for causing a collision, a decision that dropped him back to seventh.
Hamilton's demotion handed McLaren driver Sainz Jr. his first career podium in F1,and McLaren's first since 2014.


It was a remarkable end to one of the most incident-packed races in recent memory. "What a race!" Verstappen said, summing it up perfectly. "Loved it."

Lewis Hamilton clinches his sixth world drivers' title with second place in the United States Grand Prix.


He becomes the second most successful Formula 1 driver of all time, one championship behind German legend Formula 1 Michael Schumacher.

Hamilton failed in a valiant attempt to win the race by trying a different strategy to Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas, but that did not matter such was his points advantage. The Briton held off Max Verstappen for second as Bottas won in Austin.


The 34-year-old British driver moved with one of the record seven titles won by Germany's Michael Schumacher. Hamilton has won the last three championships F1 and locked this one up with two races left of the 2019 season.

Hamilton had said before the race that he was not thinking of sealing the championship in Texas, only of winning the race, and he drove with the fierce competitive instinct that has defined his season and career.

Valtteri Bottas won the 2019 Formula 1 United States Grand Prix

Valtteri Bottas left pleased with his race-winning performance at the United States Grand Prix despite missing out on the 2019 Formula 1 world title. 



Even in victory Valtteri Bottas had to play second fiddle to Mercedes team mate Lewis Hamilton on Sunday as the Briton stole the U.S. Grand Prix spotlight by clinching a sixth Formula One drivers' world championship.


Bottas needed to take victory at the Circuit of the Americas in order to stand a chance of still contending for the 2019 title, and he executed a two-stop strategy from pole to triumph.
Bottas converted his fifth pole position of the season into his fourth win on a two-stop strategy, having successfully passed the one-stopping Hamilton in the closing stages of the Austin race.


From the cheers to the post-race celebrations Hamilton was once again the man of the moment and overshadowed a superb win by the Finn, who might have been among the very few at a packed Circuit of the Americas delighted at having denied the hugely popular Briton a win to crown his championship the Briton secured a sixth world title ahead of the final rounds of the campaign in Brazil and Abu Dhabi.

"Lewis I am sure really wanted to win this race to win the title," Bottas told reporters. "Winning the race I got to stop that, so that feels good.

"I just look forward to next year, it is a new opportunity."

Lewis Hamilton won the Mexican Grand Prix with a superbly controlled drive in a tactical fight with Ferrari to move to the brink of the world F1 title.
Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel was second, ahead of Bottas and Charles Leclerc.


Hamilton produced an amazing effort to make his tyres last for 48 of the 71-lap race, but after Valtteri Bottas finished third, Hamilton – who needed his Mercedes team-mate to be fifth to be certain of the title – narrowly missed out on being crowned world champion at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez circuit Mexico.


Lewis Hamilton’s wait for a sixth world title will go on to next weekend’s United States Grand Prix Hamilton will clinch his sixth championship at the US Grand Prix next Sunday as long as he does not lose more than 22 points to Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas.


The fiesta amid the riotous colour and noise of the packed Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez circuit could not have belonged more emphatically to Lewis Hamilton. The British driver secured a true champion’s victory at the Mexican Grand Prix but much as he rightly revelled in a win scored completely against the odds, the championship champagne remains on ice for one more week at least until the US Grand Prix.

Valtteri Bottas won the Japanese Grand Prix with a searing start from third on the grid was the key to the Finn taking victory at Suzuka – his first win since Azerbaijan in April – as Mercedes were crowned constructors’ champions for a record-matching sixth time, Bottas finishing ahead of Sebastian Vettel and Mercedes team mate Lewis Hamilton.





Bottas jumped polesitter Vettel off the start to lead the German into Turn 1 at Suzuka, before going on to control the race at the front, managing a two-stop strategy to perfection to bring home the sixth victory of his career.
Behind, a titanic battle between Hamilton and Vettel for second place in the final laps of the race saw Vettel eventually hold off his rival, crossing the line just 0.4 seconds ahead.



The result sealed the constructors' title with four races to go and, while Hamilton is not quite world champion yet, only Bottas can catch him.

Meanwhile, as Mercedes secured their sixth straight constructors’ championship – matching Ferrari’s record from 1999-2004 – it also became a mathematical certainty that one of either Bottas or Hamilton will be crowned drivers’ champions in the 2019 F1 season, ensuring the teams’ sixth straight double championship, a new record.


Bottas takes nine points out of Hamilton's title lead - reducing his deficit to 64 points - but the Englishman will have a first mathematical chance to wrap up a sixth drivers' title at the Mexican GP on October 27. 2019.

Lewis Hamilton wins the 2019 Formula 1 Russian Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton won the Russian Grand Prix, tighten his grip on a sixth world championship as fortune favoured him and Ferrari floundered.


Valtteri Bottas followed team-mate Hamilton home at the Sochi Autodrom as Mercedes secured the full quota of points on a day to forget for those dressed in red.

After a virtual safety car was brought out after Sebastian Vettel's red car stopped with engine failure.
In a calamitous few laps for Ferrari, the Italian team threw away a certain one-two finish after Sebastian Vettel broke down and Charles Leclerc dropped from first to third.


The world champion moved closer to winning a sixth world title - 73 points clear of nearest challenger and team-mate Valtteri Bottas  Leclerc is 107 points behind the British driver with 130 remaining to go.


Max Verstappen finished fourth ahead of Red Bull team-mate Alex Albon, who started last after he crashed out of qualifying.


"What an effort, guys," said a jubilant Hamilton on the radio. "What an incredible job. That is exactly what we needed. We never give up."

Sebastian Vettel wins the Formula 1 2019 Singapore Grand Prix

Sebastian Vettel won his first F1 race in over a year for Ferrari after beating an unhappy Charles Leclerc at the Singapore Grand Prix, with Lewis Hamilton only fourth who started second in the Mercedes, down to fourth, behind Red Bull's Max Verstappen.



Vettel started third under the lights but jumped ahead of his teammate and Hamilton after Ferrari pitted him first - a decision which Leclerc questioned as the pole-sitter was denied a third straight victory.

The German benefited from unusual Ferrari strategy to leapfrog team-mate Charles Leclerc into the lead.

Leclerc told the team over the radio that it was "unfair" and it will do little to reduce tension within the team.

But it was a much-needed victory for the four-time world champion who has had a difficult, error-strewn season and faced questions about his status and future.

The four-time Formula One world champion celebrated his 53rd career win under the 1,500 bulbs which light up the Marina Bay Street Circuit, 22 races after he last stood on the top step of the podium at the Belgian Grand Prix in August 2018.​

Charles Leclerc wins the 2019 Italian Grand Prix for Ferrari

Charles Leclerc held onto pole position in an absorbing race to claim a second consecutive race win of the 2019 season and give Ferrari a first Italian GP triumph since 2010.



Charles Leclerc survived an onslaught from Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas to win a thrilling Italian Grand Prix. Hamilton hustled Leclerc during a remarkable spell of wheel-to-wheel action at Monza - but the young Monegasque excelled to keep the world champion at bay and register his second win in as many weeks and Ferrari's first on home soil in nine years.

With 11 laps remaining, Hamilton then made a mistake at the first corner in his pursuit of Leclerc, falling off the road and allowing Bottas to take second. On fresher tyres, Bottas took over from Hamilton in his pursuit of Leclerc but crossed the line just eight-tenths shy of the Ferrari star.


Last weekend, the 21-year-old driver won an emotional Belgian Grand Prix a day after the death of his friend, Anthonie Hubert, in a Formula Two race.

The first-year Scuderia Ferrari driver delivered the Italian faithful their first Italian Grand Prix victory since Fernando Alonso won the race in the 2010 Formula 1 season, ending their longest ever drought of failing to win at Autodromo Nazionale Monza.



Sebastian Vettel had a poor afternoon, however, when an unforced error and a penalty left him in 13th place. Max Verstappen, starting from 19th after an engine change, was eighth.

Charles Leclerc wins the 2019 Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix

Charles Leclerc took his maiden Formula One victory at the Belgian Grand Prix. At an emotional meeting, over which the death of F2 driver Anthoine Hubert hung heavily, Leclerc delivered an exceptional, mature, controlled drive for Ferrari to take the flag for the first time in the 2019 F1 season.


Lewis Hamilton was second for Mercedes with his teammate Valtteri Bottas third. Sebastian Vettel was in fourth with Alexander Albon in fifth on his Red Bull debut.


Less than 24 hours after Leclerc's French motor racing contemporary, Anthoine Hubert, was killed at the Spa-Francorchamps venue, the young Monegasque driver delivered a dominant display to take the chequered flag in his friend's honour.

Lewis Hamilton finished second after fighting his way past Sebastian Vettel with 12 laps remaining. Hamilton's Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas also managed to see off Vettel after the Ferrari driver was forced to make an additional stop for tyres.

Hamilton extended his lead over Bottas in the championship to 65 points.



"This one is for Anthoine," said an emotional Leclerc on the radio. 
On one hand, I’ve got a dream since being a child that has been realised but on the other hand, it has been a very difficult weekend and we have lost a friend first of all. It is very difficult in these situations. I would like to dedicate my first win to him, we have grown up together – my first ever race was with Anthoine – and it is just such a shame what happened. I can’t enjoy fully my first victory but I will keep this memory forever said after the race Charles Leclerc.




The final word should go to race winner Charles Leclerc, who dedicated his first F1 victory to Anthoine Hubert, who tragically died on Saturday. 

Hubert is the first driver to die as a result of an accident at an F1 event since Jules Bianchi succumbed to the injuries he sustained in Japan in 2014. Hubert was 22 and a Renault academy driver from Lyon in France. He began racing in karts in 2004, was the French F4 champion in 2013 and showed great promise when he became the GP3 champion last year, before stepping up to F2.

Lewis Hamilton wins the 2019 Hungarian Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton passed Max Verstappen with three laps remaining to win the Hungarian Grand Prix. Hamilton won in Hungary with a marvellous, controlled run and an inspired strategy from his Mercedes team beating the Red Bull of Max Verstappen into second after a gripping encounter at the Hungaroring. Sebastian Vettel finished in third.


Max Verstappen led for 67 of 70 laps, but a hail Mary pit-stop from Mercedes and fine driving from Lewis Hamilton combined to steal victory; he now holds a 62-point advantage in the F1 driver championship.

Hamilton was within one second of Verstappen when he was called in for a second pit stop - Mercedes hoping that a switch to fresh tyres would provide the British star with a chance to usurp Verstappen.


The strategy move by Formula One's all-conquering team proved inspired.

Hamilton left the pit lane 21 seconds behind Verstappen with 21 laps remaining, the Briton lighting up the time sheets before catching the back of Verstappen's Red Bull.

The world champion then made the move for victory stick around the outside of Verstappen on lap 67.

It was a mouth-watering fight between the greatest driver of his generation, Hamilton, and the man who is emerging as the leader of the next, and the first time they had disputed a grand prix victory in such a spectacular way.

It puts Hamilton 62 points ahead in the championship with nine races to go - and a maximum of 234 points available in the 2019 Formula One season.


This was Lewis Hamilton's seventh victory in Hungary in the legendary circuit at Hungaroring.

It was an exciting race we leave the beautiful Hungary for a well deserved summer break.

Max Verstappen wins a spectacular 2019 German Grand Prix

Max Verstappen wins an unbelievable 2019 GermanGP and mastered the rainy conditions to clinch victory on a day when many of the other big guns quite literally hit trouble... Sebastian Vettel finishes an astonishing second from P20. Kvyat crosses the line third at Hockenheim the iconic German track.

The 21-year-old Dutchman led a topsy-turvy result in which Verstappen's victorysecured his second win of the season and seventh of his career, was just one storyline in what will be remembered as an all-time classic German Grand Prix, as Verstappen got handfuls of wheelspin to drop way down the pack. But that was just the first of series of twists and turns as the rain came, and then eased, and then returned, before the track finally started to dry out in the closing stages. Behind the Red Bull driver, Sebastian Vettel completed a sensational comeback from 20th on the grid to second, while Daniil Kvyat was a surprise third as Toro Rosso scored just their second ever podium.

Polesitter Lewis Hamilton had a day to forget, finishing 11th after two mistakes.


But the Briton did not lose any ground to team-mate Valtteri Bottas in the championship after the Finn crashed.

It was a dismal way for chanmpionship leaders Mercedes to end a weekend when the team celebrated 125 years in motorsport and their 200th Formula 1 race.

Lewis Hamilton took a record sixth British Grand Prix on Sunday after jumping ahead of Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas by taking advantage of the safety car being deployed.




Formula One championship leader Lewis Hamilton won a record sixth British Grand Prix victory in a thrilling race featuring a crash between Max Verstappen and Sebastian Vettel.

In front of his home fans, Hamilton had initially attacked Bottas on the fourth lap, overtaking but failing to keep position and made the decisive move to the front in the 20th of the 52 laps by pitting to get new tires. With the safety car still out after Antonio Giovinazzi spun off in his Alfa Romeo, Hamilton rejoined ahead of pole-sitter Bottas.

Behind them, Ferrari's Charles Leclerc and Red Bull's Verstappen staged a duel for the ages in disputing third place for the first third of the race.




"The safety car came out and it was perfect timing," Hamilton said.
Can't tell you how proud I am to be here today. I'm forever grateful to [all the fans] who came. I couldn't have done it without my team... I'm super proud to be a part of this"


The win, Hamilton's seventh from 10 rounds, takes the Briton ever closer to a sixth world title. He is now 39 points clear of Bottas in the championship F1 standings.

Max Verstappen wins the 2019 Formula 1 Austrian Grand Prix

Max Verstappen produced one of the most remarkable comebacks in recent Formula One history to win the 2019 Austrian Grand Prix.


The Red Bull driver, roared on by his large Dutch following at a sweltering Spielberg, denied Charles Leclerc the first win of his career by passing the young Ferrari driver with just two laps to go.


Max Verstappen said drivers should "stay at home" and there is no point "being in Formula 1" if his move on Charles Leclerc to win in Austria gets punished.


Red Bull driver Verstappen caught and overtook Ferrari's Leclerc with three laps remaining, but the two made wheel-to-wheel contact as Leclerc tried to hang on around the outside of the tight uphill right of Turn 3, of the AustrianGP.


Verstappen's winning move on Leclerc, however, is under investigation.

No further action. That was the decision of the Austrian Grand Prix stewards regarding the on-track clash between Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc, meaning Verstappen keeps his victory at the Red Bull Ring with Leclerc second.


It took a few hours to be confirmed as valid, but Max Verstappen's victory at the Austrian Grand Prix will live long in the memory.

The Dutchman turned in one of the best displays of his career to pass three rivals on track to win the race. The last of those, his wheel-banging move on Charles Leclerc three laps from the end, was the subject of a stewards' investigation immediately after the race.


Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto has confirmed his team will not appeal the stewards' decision that ensured Max Verstappen kept victory at the Austrian Grand Prix ahead of Charles Leclerc.

Lewis Hamilton wins the 2019 French Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton absolutely dominated the French Grand Prix, leading every lap from pole position to extend his lead in the Formula 1 championship to 36 points.


Hamilton comfortably defeated teammate Valtteri Bottas in a race without events to mention at Paul Ricard as Charles Leclerc completed the podium for Ferrari, whose lead driver Sebastian Vettel is now 76 points behind Hamilton after finishing fifth the FrenchGP.

Vettel failed to make much progress from seventh on the grid, although a bonus point for fastest lap after making a late pitstop for fresh tyres provided a thin silver lining for the German.

Hamilton held the lead at the start and only edged clear by a small margin over the first half of the opening stint over his teammate Valtteri Bottas.

However, the longer the drivers eked out their medium tyres, the bigger Hamilton's advantage became which he managed without any problems until the end of the French race.

Lewis Hamilton claims third win in a row after huge controversial 5s penalty for Vettel; Pair nearly came together when battling for first; Vettel says stewards stole win from him, while Hamilton is booed on podium; at the  2019 Canadian Grand Prix. 



Vettel took the chequered flag at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve but was demoted to runner-up following a penalty for a near-collision with Hamilton on lap 48.

Vettel led the whole race from pole position but stewards gave him a five-second penalty for getting too close to the second-placed Hamilton when rejoining the track after running wide when battling the Mercedes.


"They are stealing the race from us," said a furious Vettel over the radio as he was informed of the stewards' verdict.

Hamilton crossed the line 1.3 seconds behind Vettel to ensure he would take the fifth win of his championship defence, and extend his championship lead to 29 points after Valtteri Bottas finished fourth. Charles Leclerc completed the podium positions at the Canadian GP.


The Ferrari team principal, Mattia Binotto, has weighed in with his. “We will calm down, everyone will calm down in a couple of hours,” he says, with a warming smile. “We won today. I think honestly we were the fastest on track today and that is important. Everyone I think believes that there was nothing Sebastian could have done. I don’t think he had any bad intentions at all. He stayed ahead the entire race, he went through the chequered flag, for us he is the winner.” And, rather pertinently, he adds: “The season is not over.”


The result means that Ferrari have still not won a race in 2019 and trail Mercedes by 121 points. Four-time world champion Vettel now trails championship leader Hamilton by 62 points after seven grands prix.
