Fabio Quartararo wins the 2020 Andalucia MotoGP Grand Prix

Fabio Quartararo of Petronas Yamaha led from start to finish in the scorching heat of Jerez to win an incident-packed Andalusian Grand Prix at Jerez MotoGP. Frenchman Quartararo, who also won the season-opening Spanish Grand Prix last weekend, cruised to victory from pole position while factory Yamaha duo of Spaniard Maverick Vinales and former champion Valentino Rossi finished second and third.

The extreme heat caused a high rate of attrition through accidents and mechanical issues, though Petronas Yamaha rider Quartararo avoided all of that to ease to his second-successive win to seize command in the 2020 MotoGP championship.

“That one was tough,” Quartararo said after a race in which eight riders crashed or retired due to technical problems. “What an amazing feeling, it feels so good to make back-to-back wins. Strange conditions today, but I think it was one of the hardest races of my life.”

Victory moved Quartararo to 50 points in the world championship standings, 10 points ahead of Vinales. Vinales clinched runners-up spot after an overtake on the penultimate lap and 41-year-old Italian Rossi took a podium place for the 199th time in his premier class career and first since the Grand Prix of the Americas last year.

Petronas Yamaha's Fabio Quartararo won his first ever MotoGP race as he took the chequered flag in an incident-packed race at the Spanish Grand Prix in Jerez on Sunday as MotoGP got its season underway amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Six-time Defending MotoGP champion Marc Marquez of Honda made two mistakes in the race, Márquez crashed hard with four laps to go and had to be carried off the track on a stretcher with an apparent arm injury. He started third but had to come from behind after losing control of his bike and avoiding an earlier crash that put him back in the pack at the beginning of the race.

Frenchman Quartararo's victory was also the first for Petronas Yamaha as he finished ahead of Yamaha's Maverick Vinales in second, while Ducati's Andrea Dovizioso finished third.

The MotoGP season was set to start in March in Qatar but only Moto 2 and Moto 3 were ran as the coronavirus outbreak struck.

The race in Spain was held without fans and under strict health controls.

Marc Marquez wins the 2019 Valenciana MotoGP Grand Prix

Repsol Honda Team are 2019 triple crown Champions after Marc Marquez claimed victory number 12 of the season at the Gran Premio Motul de la Comunitat Valenciana, with Jorge Lorenzo scoring points in his final MotoG ride to help Honda win the Teams Championship. pole sitter Fabio Quartararo (Petronas Yamaha SRT) and Jack Miller (Pramac Racing) completed the final podium of the 2019 season.



Starting from second on the front row, Marquez didn’t enjoy the best of starts and found himself down in fifth place through the first checkpoint. However, it wasn’t long before Marquez did what he seems to do better than anybody else.

Fabio Quartararo led the race in beginning, but finished 2nd place. He has secured the MotoGP Independent riders’ title along with his top rookie honour in 2019. 3rd place was Jack Miller (Pramac Ducati), who took his 5th podium of 2019.
Jorge Lorenzo (Repsol Honda) ended his career in MotoGP with his best result since June's Italian GP in 13th.

Marc Marquez said, “It was my best season of my career and I don’t know if it will be my best season in all of my career but obviously the numbers, the statistics speak. We showed our potential this year and it was a perfect season as it was so difficult to improve on.
We finished in the best way by winning the race in Valencia but especially taking the teams’ championship because all the Repsol Honda team deserves it.

It is a way to say goodbye to Jorge because in the end the Jorge I have in mind and for everybody is the Jorge that is a five-time world champion and in the end we will celebrate something together tonight and this will make me happy.”
On his final-ever MotoGP ride, five-time World Champion and future MotoGP™ Legend Jorge Lorenzo finished P13. It was an emotional day for the Spaniard who arrived back into pitlane to rapturous applause, with the Valencia fans paying their full respects to one of the sport’s greatest ever riders on his cool-down lap. #ThankYouJorge!

Maverick Vinales wins the 2019 Malaysian Grand Prix

Yamaha rider Maverick Vinales staved off MotoGP world champion Marc Marquez's spectacular charge to win the Malaysian Grand Prix for his second win of the 2019 season at the Sepang International Circuit.



A week after crashing out in the final lap at Phillip Island to allow Marquez to win the season's penultimate race in Australia, Vinales made sure there was no repeat of the heartbreak.
It was Vinales’ second win of the season following his Dutch TT breakthrough in June – and it came following a manic first lap, where Marquez bolted to fifth from a lowly 11th on the grid following his qualifying disaster.

The 24-year-old built an early lead and then put on a near-flawless race to stay clear of fellow Spaniard Marquez, who finished second after beginning 11th, Andrea Dovizioso completed the podium, finishing three-tenths of a second in front of Valentino Rossi in fourth.


"I felt I had a big potential just passing the first lap," Vinales said afterwards.
"I took the lead in the first...and kept pushing, pushing, pushing. I'm so happy, the team did a great job."

Marc Marquez wins the 2019 Japanese Grand Prix

MotoGP world champion Marc Marquez won the Japan Grand Prix to notch his tenth victory of the season and earn Honda its fourth manufacturers' title running at their home Motegi circuit.


The Spaniard ran the race in 42min 41.492sec, followed 0.870sec later by French rookie Fabio Quartararo of Yamaha-SRT and Ducati's Andrea Dovizioso 1.325sec later.


Marquez pole-to-flag ride was unassailable from the second lap in his first ever pole start at the Motegi Twin Circuit, with dry conditions after bucketing rains during practice sessions on Friday and Saturday.

Quartararo managed to edge in front for a brief moment shortly after the start, but Marquez quickly regained the lead and shot ahead with a one-second gap early in the Japanese race.



"It was not easy. I was pushing from the beginning because our strategy was clear," Marquez said.

"This time I tried to open the gap from the beginning because I felt very strong in the warm up."

He said he lost focus during the race when he realized his bike was burning through fuel too quickly, forcing him to "play a lot with switches".



Marquez had already secured his season victory by winning the Thailand Grand Prix earlier this month.

His victory at Motegi also secured Honda's 25th constructors' championship overall and its fourth on the trot, coming as the company celebrates 60 years in motorcycle racing.

Marc Marquez has won his sixth MotoGP world title - and his fourth in a row.


Honda’s Marc Marquez sealed his fourth consecutive MotoGP title with four races to spare after winning the 2019 Thai Grand Prix on Sunday after a thrilling duel with French rookie Fabio Quartararo. The Spaniard had to score two points more than Italian Ducati rival Andrea Dovizioso, who finished a distant fourth at Buriram’s Chang International Circuit.



The 26-year-old, who was taken to hospital after a crash in practice at Chang circuit in Buriram, sealed his latest crown with four races to spare.

The Spaniard had to win at least two points more than closest rival Andrea Dovizioso - and did so as the Italian finished fourth.
Fabio Quartararo was second, with Maverick Vinales in third.


Marquez was still able to retake the lead for his 53rd MotoGP race win.
"I was planning the weekend to win the race and not think about the championship," said Marquez.
"My target was to find the best way to win the race, and that's what I did.

"Amazing year. All the team did an amazing job. Now it's time to enjoy and celebrate the title."



The title was the sixth Moto GP title of Marquez’s grand prix career, with the 26-year-old becoming the youngest rider to achieve the feat. It was the eighth career title overall – he was 125cc (now Moto3) world champion in 2010 and Moto2 winner in 2012.
